Plants small, slender, 5–25 mm high, yellowish green to yellowish brown, sometimes shiny, in loose tufts. Stems short, erect, simple or sometimes branched, comose foliate in upper part; central strand slightly differentiated. Leaves 2–4 mm long, broadly ovate and sheathing at base, abruptly narrowed to a long subula; margins entire; costa occupying 1/4 of the leaf base width, filling all of the subula; upper shoulder cells short-rectangular to rhomboidal; lower shoulder cells narrowly rectangular; alar cells not differentiated. Dioicous. Perichaetial leaves not much differentiated. Setae up to 8 mm long, flexuose when dry, curved when moist; capsules ovoid, ca. 2 mm × 0.6 mm, with a short neck, sometimes slightly strumose, stomata superficial; annuli developed; opercula convex on the abaxial side, flat on the adaxial side 3 as long as capsules, obliquely rostrate; peristome teeth brownish-orange, striate below, hyaline or papillose above, divided halfway down. Calyptrae small, cucullate, entire at base. Spores 20–22 µm in diameter, smooth to finely papillose, yellowish brown.
