Pleuridium venezuelanum is distinguished by plants to 4 mm, julaceous below, deltoid- to oblong-acuminate lower leaves, oblong-lanceolate, short subulate upper leaves to 1.25 mm, bistratose at leaf shoulder, entire margins, broad, percurrent costa, oblong-lanceolate leaves ca. 1.1-1.5 mm, gradually long subulate, entire to subdenticulate margins, autoicous sexual condition, antheridia subtended by leafy bracts in axil of stem leaves, seta to 0.75 mm, ovoid-apiculate capsules to 0.75 mm, cucullate calyptra.
