Description Spikelets 1-flowered, disarticulating below the glumes, laterally compressed; glumes wanting; lemma awnless, chartaceous, oblong, usually 5-nerved, the lateral nerves close to the margins, these and the keel often hispid-ciliate; palea as long as the lemma, 3-nerved, the lateral nerves near the margins, usually hispid-ciliate, the margins firmly held by the margins of the lemma; stamens 1-6.
