General/Distribution: A genus of c.6 species, ranging from Africa through Arabia, India, Madagascar to Australia, represented in Pakistan by 1-2 species.

Twining glabrous herbs or subshrubs. Leaves opposite, fleshy, ovate to oblong. Flowers in lateral sessile to subsessile umbelloid cymes. Calyx lobes 5, ovate-lanceolate acute. Corolla green, suffused with purple, 5-lobed, lobes longer than the united portion, twisted in bud. Corona in one series, consisting of 5 laterally compressed segments, attached to the staminal column, produced at the base into a spur and the apex into a slender tip. Pollinium 1 in each locule, pendulous, without a pellucid margin. Follicles lanceolate, narrowed into a beak, glabrous.
