of Albizia are controversial, with some authors restricting the group to
70–110 species occurring mostly in Asia and other authors broadening
the circumscription to about 150 species in tropical and warm-temperate regions
of both hemispheres (Elias, 1974; Nielsen, 1981). The solitary species
introduced in Missouri is part of the core complex of the genus.
