P. gaussenii Woltz was described from cultivated material from Madagascar, it is regarded as a synonym of Decussocarpus falcatus (Thunb.) de Laub. (syn. P. falcatus; Afrocarpus falcatus) which is widely cultivated in Madagascar, but apparently it is not naturalised. Recently certain material referred to P. madagascariensis has been identified as P. henkelii, originally described from mainland Africa.
