General/Distribution: A small genus of 5 species found in the tropical and sub-tropical regions of both the hemispheres. Represented in Pakistan by 1 species.

Much branched, perennial, subshrubby herbs. Leaves small, sessile, entire. Flowers subsessile, small in bracteate cl usters at branch tips. Sepals obovate, subequal, imbricate. Corolla tube campanulate, the lobes ovate, imbricate, spreading. Stamens and styles exserted, the filaments filiform. Styles 2, distinct to the base, the stigmas large, capitate. Fruit capsular, usually 1-seeded. Seeds glabrous, brown.
