1. Boerhavia L. (spiderling, wine flower)

Three to 30 species, widespread in tropical and warm-temperate regions around the world, especially the southwestern U.S. and adjacent arid and seasonally dry regions of Mexico.

Boerhavia is in need of a thorough taxonomic revision. The generic name is often incorrectly spelled Boerhaavia in the older literature (Bogle, 1974).
