Perennial or biennial suffruticose herbs with hispid parts. Hairs setose, usually arising from a tubercled base; the base sometimes setulose. Flowers bracteate, in terminal or both terminal and lateral cynics, nodding. Calyx 5-sect or sometimes shortly tubular, usually accrescent. Corolla tubular, gradually broadening upwards, yellow, blue, white or creamish; lobes short, patent or not. Annulus glabrous or hairy. Nectariferous glands sometimes present. Filaments adnate to corolla tube in lower half. Anthers usually adnate to one another basally or sometimes laterally, included in the corolla tube or sometimes exserted. Stigmas 2, bibbed or capitate. Nutlets 4 or less, usually mooth.
