1. Aschersoniodoxa cachensis (Spegazzini) Al-Shehbaz, Syst. Bot. 15: 392. 1990; Braya cachensis Spegazzini, Comun. Mus. Nac. Buenos Aires 1(2): 46. 1898. TYPE: Argentina, Salta, Navado de Cachi, Feb 1897, C. Spegazzini s.n. (holotype, LPS # 10440!; isotype, B!).

     Plants glabrous throughout, 4-6 cm tall. Basal leaves broadly obovate to suborbicular, rarely oblanceolate, 15-30 x (5-)7-12 mm, densely covered at least adaxially with coarse, rounded tubercles 0.1-0.2 mm in diam., base abruptly narrowed to a short and flattened petiole, apex rounded. Fruiting pedicels (4-)6-15 mm long, ascending, straight to recurved. Sepals ovate, 4-5 mm, caducous or rarely persistent, glabrous, margin somewhat membranous, apex obtuse to rounded. Petals white, obovate, 4-6 x 2.5-2.8 mm, base cuneate, apex rounded. Filaments 3.5-6 mm; anthers 1-1.5 mm. Fruit oblong to elliptic, (20-)25-38 x (7-)10-11 mm; style (0.6-)1-1.8 mm long. Seeds dark reddish brown, (2.4-)2.6-3.5 x (1.6-)1.7-2.2 mm, reticulate and the units 7-17(-20) mm in diam.

Flowering: Feb-Mar.

Habitat: non-consolidated moraine.

Elevation: 4000-5100 m.

Distribution: Argentina (Catamarca, Jujuy), Bolivia (La Paz, Potosí), Peru (Ancash, Junin, Huancavelica).
