Type: Type locality: Described from Southern Iran.
Distribution: Distribution: Afghanistan, Iran, Baluchistan in W. Pakistan.
Comment/Acknowledgements: This plant was collected in the third week of May in the fruiting stage and there were hardly any leaves on it. The plant exudes a yellowish-white gum, ammoniacum, which is used in medicine for bronchitis and skin diseases. The plant mentioned by Aitchison as Dorema ammoniacum in Trans. Linn. Soc. Lon. Ser. 2, 3: 70. 1888, is Dorema aitchisonii Kor.

Plants 2-3 m tall, branched. Stem base 6-12 cm in diameter, woody. Radical leaves large, ternatisect; leaf segments large, oblong, obtuse; leaf base amplexi¬caul. Umbels simple on branches. Peduncles 1-2 cm long. Involucre of 5-8 small, linear bracts. Calyx teeth minute. Petals white. Fruit elliptic to oblong, 6-8 mm long, 4-5 mm broad, glabrous, dorsally compressed; dorsal and intermediate ridges distinct, thin; lateral ridges broad; furrows 1-vittate; commissure 4-vittate. Inner seed face plane.
