Notes: This species is characterized by its medium-sized habit, pilosulous or villosulous pubescence, fleshy stiules with a conical appendage, subcapitate to branched, pedunculate pseudoaxillary inflorescences with floral bracts 1.2--3 mm long, fruits that become stipitate and red to orange, and flattened pyrenes with a dorsal ridge.
Distribution: Wet forest at 200-800 m in Amazonian southern Colombia and Ecuador.
