Red List Assessment     (Last Modified On 12/11/2017)
Red List threat category: VULNERABLE
Criteria: B1ab(i,ii,iii)+2ab(i,ii,iii)
Rationale: Gaertnera violacea is a tree or shrub growing in subhumid forest, relatively restricted to Northern of Madagascar from Manongarivo to Mananara Nord protected areas. With an EOO of 1 802sq km, no more than 10 locations, half of subpopulations encompassed in any protected area, continuing decline due to observed degradation of habitat, it is assessed as VU B1 ab(i,ii,iii) + B2 ab(i,ii,iii). It is currently known from 4 protected areas (Anjanaharibe-Sud, Manongarivo, Marojejy, Tsaratanana), last collected in 2007 from Morafeno (Antsiranana). P
