Las ramitas pálidas, glabrados or with scant appressed pale hairs. Folíolos 3--7 (8), ovados a oblongos o amplimente elípticos a obovados u ovados a suborbiculares, 3.4--12.5 (--17) cm de largo y 2.5--5.7 (--8.5) cm de ancho, ápice obtuso, agudo o cortamente acuminado, envés glabrous or sparsely pubescent with pale appressed hairs. Inflorescencias rojizo-tomentosas, brácteas recuradas 2.5--3 mm de largo y 1.5 --2 mm de ancho, bractéolas 1--3 mm de largo y 1--2 mm de ancho; cáliz 6--7 mm de largo, rojizo-tomentoso; pétalos blanco verdoso a amarillentas con lila o rosadas, 16--17 mm de largo. Frutos 2.7--7.5 cm de largo y 2.1–3.8 cm de ancho, arilo púrpura oscuro a negro.

Conocida en Nicaragua por una sola flowering colección (Rueda 2538) and two questionable sterile collections de pluvioselvas, Río San Juan; 0–5 m; fl ene; Nicaragua a Panamá. This taxon was treated under the mis-applied name, Dussia mexicana in the published Flora de Nicaragua.
