Rarity: Known only from type specimen.
Type(s) of accepted name: Louis A. Chapelier - s.n.
Notes: This species is known from one historical specimen without locality or habitat data. Ruhsam & Davis (2007) recognized this species provisionally and concluded that it is found "on the east coast of Madagascar" based on where Chapelier, collector of the type specimen, worked. Ruhsam & Davis circumscribed this species much more narrowly than previous taxonomists did (in herb.); they included the specimens identified as Flagenium setosum before 2007 in their circumscription of Flagenium triflorum. They distinguished these species apparently basically by leaf size.IUCN Red List Category (IUCN, 2001): Data Deficient (DD) or Extinct (E).
