Prostrate herb with erect or ascending branches, 15-30 (-45) cm. long, glabrous to slightly pubescent with subspreading hairs. Leaves ovate to oblong, sessile, distant, acute to subobtuse, entire, 5-10 cm long, 1-1.5 cm broad, base cordate, sub-rounded to rounded, margins villously ciliate to subglabrous. Flowers blue, usually in terminal clusters subtended by ovate-falcate, c. 1.5 cm long, acute, folded spathes. Capsules 3-4 mm long, trigonous, obtuse, membranous, nearly glabrous, usually 6-seeded (sometimes less due to abortion); seeds c. 1.2 mm long, striated or piled.
