Notes:

This species belongs to Subg. Hillia. It is similar vegetatively and in fruit to Hillia macromeris; Hillia macrophylla is collected much more often than Hillia macromeris.
Distribution:

Wet premontane and montane forests, 800-1500 m, Costa Rica, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru.
