Discussion: A monotypic genus characterized by small size and dark, shiny color, coupled with stiffly erect, broadly linear leaves ending in broadly acute to bluntly obtuse tips nearly filled by an expanded, flat costa.; upper cells (bistratose toward the apex) firm and short, their brown or orange color sharply contrasting with the bright yellow of thin-walled basal cells. Capsules small and immersed, with a large, persistent annulus but no peristome. Spores 20-30 µm in diameter, proximally vermiculose, distally rugose. Calyptrae cucullate, smooth, covering about 3/4 of the capsule.
