Plants slender, green or dark yellowish green, slightly glossy, in dense mats. Stems interwoven, radiculose, usually regularly pinnately branched, branches short. Leaves straight or erect-spreading, falcate-secund, ovate-lanceolate, concave, slenderly acuminate; margins entire, bordered; costae indistinct or absent; leaf cells elongate-rhomboidal, distinctly prorate. Autoicous. Inner perichaetial leaves ovate-lanceolate, gradually acuminate, entire. Setae elongate; capsules small, pendulous, ovoid or globose, exothecial cells mammillose, constricted below the mouth when dry; opercula conic, roughened, papillose, shortly rostrate; annuli developed, persistent; peristome double; exostome teeth yellowish brown, reddish and cross-striate below, papillose and pale above, trabeculate on the inner surface; endostome segments linear-lanceolate, papillose, perforate, with 1 cilium. Calyptrae cucullate. Spores yellowish green, nearly smooth.
