general taxon notes:
Brachythecium garovaglioidesis characterized by its rather large plants with loosely foliate stems and branches, and by its abruptly narrowed leaf apices.

Plants rather large, pale yellowish green. Stems prostrate, to 6 cm long, irregularly branched, loosely foliate, branches more or less flat, simple or with branchlets. Stem and branch leaves similar, oblong-ovate-lanceolate or elliptical-lanceolate, 2.4–3.5 mm × 0.9–1.4 mm, concave, irregularly plicate, abruptly narrowed to a slender or piliform apex; margins entire below, serrulate above; costae slender, ending slightly above mid-leaf; median leaf cells linear, 100–165 µm × 8–10 µm, with angled ends; alar cells well differentiated in basal 2–4 rows, shortly rectangular, extending close to costa at leaf base. Sporophytes not seen.
