Plants medium-sized, yellowish green or brownish green, in loosely caespitose mats. Stems prostrate or ascending, to ca. 20 cm long, subpinnately branched; stem rounded in cross section; central strand weakly differentiated; pseudoparaphyllia small, triangularly foliose. Stem leaves erect, 2.5–3.5 mm × 0.3–0.4 mm, narrowly lanceolate, gradually narrowed toward long acuminate apex; margins plane, finely serrulate, especially in the upper part; costae single, yellow or yellowish brown, 35–40 mm at base, ca. 2/3–3/4 the leaf length; median leaf cells linear, ca. 15–30 times as long as wide; numerous apical cells differentiated, shorter, broader, hyaline, sometimes with rhizoids; basal juxtacostal cells often thick-walled, porose; alar cells large, oblong or rectangular, hyaline or yellowish brown, sometimes forming an indistinct auricle. Autoicous. Perichaetial leaves ovate-lanceolate, ca. 2.5 mm × 1.0 mm, not plicate; costae reaching 1/2 the leaf length; margins entire or serrulate above. Setae 40–60 mm long, curved, reddish brown; capsules oblong-ovoid to cylindrical, 2–3 mm long, with an elongate neck, arching curved above; endostome segments carinate, papillose above; cilia 2–3, papillose, as long as the segments, nodulose.
