Plants rather slender, small, green or yellowish green, somewhat glossy, in flattened mats. Stems creeping, irregularly branched, leafy branches densely foliate, curved when dry. Stem leaves and branch leaves similar, appressed when dry, erect spreading when moist, ovate-lanceolate, gradually acuminate toward apex, 0.8–1.1 mm × 0.30–0.46 mm; margins entire or serrulate near the apex; costae double, very short or indistinct; leaf cells linear; alar cells numerous, quadrate, in a group of 10–20 rows. Setae reddish brown, 6–12 mm long; capsules erect, cylindrical, 1–2 mm long, wrinkled when dry; opercula conic, shortly rostrate; annuli well developed, in 2–3 rows of inflated cells, persistent; peristome double; exostome teeth narrowly lanceolate, pale yellowish, smooth or papillose; endostome segments linear, somewhat longer than the teeth, papillose, often adherent to the teeth below the middle, free at the tips; basal membrane very low; cilia absent. Spores yellowish green, 15–19 µm in diameter, minutely papillose.
