Plants medium-sized, in dense mats. Main stems densely and irregularly branched; branches short, less than 10 mm long, densely foliate. Leaves loosely erect when dry, erect-spreading when moist, oblong to lanceolate, acute to shortly acuminate, deeply concave, sometimes plicate, less than 2 mm long; margins entire, reflexed in the upper 1/3, weakly denticulate near apex; leaf cells narrowly elongate to linear, 65–110 µm long, narrowly rhomboidal near apex, thin-walled, smooth; alar region consisting of one row of inflated, colored cells with a few hyaline, slightly, quadrate to rectangular cells above the basal alar cells. Autoicous. Inner perichaetial leaves small, narrowly lanceolate; perigonial leaves ovate, less than 0.25 mm. Setae short, 7–15 mm long, smooth; capsules cylindrical, up to 2 mm long, erect; opercula long rostrate.
