This species is characterized by the slender, weak costae, serrulate leaf margins, and differentiated alar cells.

Plants pale green, robust, glossy. Stems short, prostrate, usually pinnately branched, densely foliate; pseudoparaphyllia triangular-lanceolate, slenderly acuminate. Leaves oblong-ovate, abruptly acute to shortly acuminate, slightly concave, ca. 2.5 mm × 0.9 mm, asymmetric; margins serrulate above the midleaf; costae slender, short; median leaf cells linear, 80–100 µm × 6–8 µm, upper cells shorter; alar cells few, quadrate to shortly rectangular. Dioicous. Sporophytes not seen.
