Plants medium-sized, yellowish green to brownish green, slightly shiny, in tufts. Primary stems creeping on substratum, 1–2 cm long, irregularly branched; paraphyllia present, consisting of uni- to multi-seriate cells. Leaves imbricate, appressed on stems when dry, reflexed, spreading when moist, abruptly tapered from an ovate base to an acuminate apex, 1.0–1.6 mm × 0.6–0.8 mm; margins plane, entire; costa thick, strong, ending below apex; leaf cells round-polygonal, 10–15 µm wide, each basal cell with a high C-shaped papilla on both surfaces. Monoicous. Perichaetial leaves mostly sheathing at base, suddenly tapered to an apiculate apex, hyaline; cells smooth. Setae erect, reddish brown, 0.9–1.0 mm long; capsules oblong-ovoid, 0.15–0.20 mm long; peristome single, only exostome present; teeth long-lanceolate, 0.3 mm long, with lamella below, verrucose on surface; opercula with stout and short beaks. Spores large, 25–40 µm in diameter, brown, densely papillose.
