Plants small, 5–10 mm high, yellowish green, in loose tufts. Stems erect, simple or branched, loosely foliate. Leaves broadly ovate at the base, suddenly narrowed from the shoulder to a long subula; margins entire, recurved; costa broad at base, filling all of the subula, excurrent; upper shoulder cells short, thick-walled, 15–20 µm × 4–6 µm; lower shoulder cells narrowed, elongate, moderately thick-walled, 40–80 µm × 6–8 µm; alar cells not differentiated. Dioicous. Perichaetial leaves not much differentiated from or slightly longer than vegetative leaves. Setae about 6 mm long, curved or flexuose with age; capsules cylindric,1.0–1.2 mm long, more than 2 times as long as wide, deeply furrowed when dry and empty; stomata absent; annuli not well developed; opercula 0.5–0.7 mm long, obliquely rostrate; peristome teeth divided to the middle, vertically striate and reddish below, papillose and yellowish above. Calyptrae cucullate, entire at base. Spores yellowish, warty, with 8–10 papillae per diameter view.
