Distribución:
Habitat: usually on warm and moist forest ground and tree trunks; alt. 200–3450 m.
Distribution: China, Nepal, Sikkim, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Vietnam, Malaysia, and the Philippines.

Besides the plant and leaf sizes that are smaller than subsp. cirratum, the leaves of subsp. fuscatum are strongly crisped with incurved leaf margins when dry, the leaf lamellae are sometimes up to 4 cells high with apical cells not in pairs, and the leaf margins are typically unistratose.
