Notes:

The distinctive stipules characteristically split into 2 segments that persist on the stems, and the leaves are unusual in shape, obovate to cuneiform. Gaertnera furcellata is similar in general, including it has similar stipules.

Distribution:

Madagascar, in Toamasina in wet evergreen forests at 790-1050 m.
