Notes: This species is characterized by its rather slender glabrous habit, fleshy stipules with a conical appendage, pseudoaxillary, pedunculate, corymbiform, pubesscent inflorescences with floral bracts 1-2 mm long, white corollas, white fruits, and hemispherical pyrenes with sharp dorsal ridges.
Distribution: Wet forests at 2370-3300 m in Andean Ecuador.
