Annotation: Cephaelis acanthacea Standley ex Steyerm. was considered an invalid name for several years because Steyermark designated two specimens as the holotype and the Code for a period including the 1990's did not permit that. These specimens comprise one gathering mounted on two sheets, cited and annotated as such by Steyermark: one sheet with the inflorescence and the other sheet with the leaf. Subsequently the Code was changed to permit this situation, as noted explicitly for this name in Art. 8 Ex. 4.
