Description Tree 15 m tall, 25 cm diameter. Flowers very showy. The lobed calyx bright yellow. Corolla bright orange. Anthers purple. Fairly common at 2300-2400 m elevation. I have not seen this species before; related to Meriania hernandii?
Locality Parque Nacional Llanganates. Cordillera Sacha Llanganates. Ridge above Río Zuñac. Cloud forest, transition to dense elfin forest. Granite substrate.
