Description NV: "Red Gombolimbo", a stunted forest tree about 25 feet high (to 70 feet or more on good site), with reddish papery bark.
Locality 3 m from Cayo on road to Cristo Ray. In v. shallow soil on steep rocky limestone hills; hot dry site much disturbed by milpa farming over many years; prob. previously under tall forest. Freq. with Metop. broem, Loncho. cast., Vitex, Cockspur etc. in depleted milpa thicket.
