Arboles, 10–15 m de alto, látex amarillo brillante. Hojas elípticas, 13–25 cm de largo y 4.5–9 cm de ancho, ápice agudo a acuminado, base aguda, nervios laterales ca 2–4 por cm; pecíolos 1–2 cm de largo. Pedicelos 1–2.5 cm de largo, yemas blanco-verdosas. Fruto ovoide, 2–3 cm de diámetro, carnoso, liso, anaranjado brillante al madurar, sabroso; semillas 1 ó 2, no cubiertas por una capa blanca.

Común en bosques húmedos, en todo el país; 0–1000 m; fl feb–mar, fr ene–jun; Moreno 21150, Sandino 4903; México a Panamá. "Jocomico".
