Scoparia dulcis L., Sp. Pl. 116. 1753.

Hierbas anuales o perennes, erectas, frecuentemente sufruticosas, (17–) 30–100 (–150) cm de alto, glabras o los tallos a veces ciliados en los nudos. Hojas linear-oblanceoladas a angostamente obovadas, (9–) 14–45 (–53) mm de largo, margen dentado; indistintamente pecioladas. Flores solitarias o en fascículos de 2 ó 3, pedicelos 4–6 (–7) mm de largo; cáliz 4-lobado, 1.5–2 mm de largo; corola 2–2.5 mm de largo y 3–4 mm de ancho, blanca, a veces purpúrea en la garganta. Cápsula ovoide-globosa y 4-sulcada, (2–) 2.5–4 mm de largo.

Maleza frecuente en áreas perturbadas, en todo el país; 0–1400 m; fl y fr todo el año; Ortiz 395, Sandino 3544; pantropical. "Escoba".
