Plants rather robust, green to yellowish green, brownish green when old, in loose mats. Stems creeping, up to 10 cm long, regularly pinnately branched; branches ca. 5 mm long; paraphyllia numerous, foliose to filamentous, branched and papillose; central strand absent. Stem leaves and branch leaves differentiated; stem leaves appressed when dry, erect-spreading when moist, widely cordate, toward a lanceolate, secund apex; leaf margins serrate; costa single, excurrent; median leaf cells rhomboidal to ovate, ca. 6–8 µm × 15.0 µm, thick-walled, multipapillose or smooth; branch leaves ovate to oblong-ovate, gradually tapering to a short apex; margins entire or serrulate; costa extending about 3/4 the leaf length. Dioicous. Perichaetial leaves sheathing at base, with a narrowly lanceolate apex. Setae slender, reddish brown to yellowish brown, smooth; capsules ovoid, erect, mostly reddish brown; opercula beaked; exostome teeth lanceolate, yellowish brown, hyaline above, finely papillose; endostome segment pale yellow, about 1/2 the exostome length; cilia absent. Calyptrae cucullate. Spores ovoid to spherical, finely papillose.
