Plant habit similar to Entodon, yellowish green, in dense tufts. Stems prostrate, radiculose, irregularly branched, branches simple or branched, terete, sometimes slender, flagelliform; in stem cross section epidermal cells not differentiated, outer cortical cells 2–3 rows, small, thick-walled; medullar cells enlarged, thin-walled; central strands somewhat developed or absent; pseudoparaphyllia foliose. Stem leaves erect-spreading, lanceolate, slightly curved, concave, more or less plicate; margins plane, entire, or crenulate near the apex; costae double, weak, often indistinct; leaf cells elongate-rhomboidal to linear-rhomboidal, smooth; basal cells short; alar cells distinctly differentiated, numerous, quadrate; branch leaves larger, often plicate, more or less similar to stem leaves. Dioicous. Inner perichaetial leaves small, lanceolate, slenderly acuminate, long-plicate, margins entire, ecostate. Setae rather short, yellowish brown, smooth, twisted when dry; capsules erect, ovoid, yellowish brown, blackish when old; opercula conic, shortly rostrate; peristome double; exostome teeth narrowly lanceolate, yellowish, cross-striate below, hyaline, papillose on outer surface, trabeculate on inner surface; endostome segments shorter than the teeth; basal membrane high; cilia 1, nodulose, or sometimes reduced. Spores yellowish, minutely papillose.
