Plants soft, complanate, in pale green mats. Stems simple or branched, prostrate on ground. Leaves heteromorphic, forming irregular rows; dorsal leaves symmetrical, lateral leaves asymmetrical, slightly wrinkled when dry, flattened when wet, ovate, broadly lanceolate to lanceolate, broadly acute to acuminate, often radiculose at the leaf tips, borders not differentiated or weakly differentiated with only one row of elongate cells; costa none; leaf cells large, hyaline, oval-hexagonal to shortly rectangular, becoming shorter toward the apex, thin-walled. Autoicous. Perichaetia lateral. Perigonia gemmiform. Setae long, smooth; capsules oblong, horizontal to pendulous; opercula long rostrate; peristome teeth papillose. Calyptrae mitriform. Spores slightly papillose.
