Plants medium-sized, dark green, glossy, in flattened mats. Stems prostrate, 3–6 cm long, irregularly branched, branches unequal in length, blunt at apex. Stem leaves and branch leaves dense, erect-spreading, complanate, asymmetric, broadly ovate-lanceolate, shortly acuminate, slightly concave; margins serrate above the midleaf; costae double, unequal in length, up to 1/3 the leaf length or sometimes indistinct; leaf cells linear-rhomboidal, prorate, thin-walled; basal cells shorter, elliptic; alar cells few, quadrate. Sporophytes not seen.
