Musci Buitenzorg 4: 1301. 1923. Leskea straminea Reinw. & Hornsch., Nova Acta Phys.-Med. Acad. Caes. Leop.-Carol. Nat. Cur.14(2) (Suppl.): 718. 1829. Type: Indonesia. Java.
 
Plants medium-sized, in interwoven mats or patches. Stems irregularly branched; branches complanate, prostrate or ascending, 1–3 cm long. Leaves broadly ovate to oblong-ovate, 1.5–2.0 mm × 0.50–0.75 mm, erect-spreading, usually falcate near branch apices, acute or shortly acuminate, sometimes hamulose with broadly cordate leaf bases; leaf cells elongate-linear, 55–80 mm long, strongly incrassate, pitted, gradually becoming shorter at apex and at base; alar cells often thick-walled, except the outermost row. Inner perichaetial leaves serrate, broadly shouldered, gradually constricted into a short or long acuminate apex. Setae 15–25 mm long, papillose.
