Plants small, green or yellowish green, in densely caespitose mats. Stems prostrate, irregularly branched, with leaves loosely spaced; pseudoparaphyllia small, foliose; central strand weakly differentiated. Stem leaves erect or ascending, ovate-lanceolate, gradually acuminate toward apex, 0.5–0.8 mm × ca. 0.3 mm; costae single, reaching 1/2–2/3 the leaf length; margins serrulate; median leaf cells rhomboidal to elongate-hexagonal, 15–35 mm × 8–10 mm; alar cells numerous, shortly oblate. Autoicous. Inner perichaetial leaves elongate-lanceolate, abruptly acuminate to a short acumen, 1.0–1.6 mm × 0.3–0.5 mm; costae single, ending in leaf apex. Setae slender, 10–30 mm long, reddish; capsules reddish brown, cylindrical, inclined, arching curved; annuli 1–3 rows; cilia 1–3, as long as the segments, usually nodulose. Spores 12–16 mm in diameter, minutely papillose.
