Plants small, 0.5–1.0 cm high, bright green to yellowish green, in loose tufts. Stems erect, radiculose below, with reddish brown rhizoids. Leaves erect, contorted when dry, erect-spreading when moist, lanceolate, 2–3 mm long, somewhat concave and keeled, acuminate at apex; margins entire or remotely bluntly crenulate; costa yellowish green or somewhat reddish, ending below leaf apex; upper leaf cells lax, thin-walled, oblong-hexagonal, 60–120 µm × 40–45 µm, with 1–2 rows of narrowly enlarged cells at margins; lower cells rectangular, ca. 3–4:1 (length:width). Autoicous. Perichaetia without paraphyses. Setae 0.6–1.5 cm long, deeply yellowish; capsules erect to suberect, cylindrical, with well developed apophyses, 1.0–1.5 mm long; opercula short-conic, 0.5–0.6 mm long, with a blunt, often somewhat oblique rostrum; annuli none; peristome teeth 16, inserted below the mouth, minutely papillose. Calyptrae not seen. Spores 15–18 µm in diameter.
