Plants medium-sized, green or yellowish green, in dense tufts. Stems 2–4 cm high, densely foliate. Leaves erect-patent, ovate-lanceolate; margins recurved, entire below, serrulate above; costae percurrent; upper leaf cells elongate-rhomboidal; median and lower cells rectangular, 35–45 µm × 4–6 µm, with papillae at upper ends ventrally, at lower ends dorsally. Dioicous. Setae ca. 2.0 cm long; capsules ovoid, 2.0–2.5 mm long, inclined to horizontal.
