Plants small, ca. 5 mm high, yellowish green or pale brownish green, in loose or dense tufts. Stems erect, with a few newly innovated branches. Leaves crowded, larger above, erect-spreading when dry and moist, ovate-lanceolate to lanceolate, ca. 1.0 mm × 0.5 mm, somewhat keeled; margins entire, slightly recurved below; costae excurrent; median leaf cells elongate-hexagonal to rhomboidal, 25–45 µm × 8–10 µm; upper margins differentiated by 1 row of somewhat rectangular cells; basal cells nearly quadrate to rectangular, all cells somewhat thick-walled. Dioicous. Setae 8–10 mm long; capsules often erect, ovoid to shortly pyriform, expanded at neck area; opercula conic; exostome teeth well developed; endostome segments reduced; basal membrane ca. 1/2 the teeth height; cilia rudimentary. Spores 10–13 µm in diameter.
