42. Brachythecium yunnanense Herzorg   云南青藓   yun nan qing xian
Hedwigia 65: 167. 1925. Type: China. Yunnan, Pe Yen Tsin, Ten 24.
Plants medium-sized, dark green, in loose mats. Stems prostrate, to 4–5 cm long, often pinnately branched, with simple, julaceous branches, ca. 0.5–1.0 cm long. Stem and branch leaves similar, usually appressed when dry, spreading when moist, elliptical-lanceolate to narrowly ovate-lanceolate, 1.22–1.55 mm × 0.39–0.58 mm, slenderly acuminate at apex, often constricted at base; margins entire; costae ending just above mid-leaf; median leaf cells linear, 63–78 µm × 7–9 µm, with angled ends; alar cells differentiated, quadrate, shortly rectangular, often extending close to costa at leaf base. Sporophytes not seen.
