Plants small, slender, dark green or yellowish green, in dense patches. Stems creeping, 2–5 mm long or longer, pinnately or sometimes bipinnately branched; branches flattened or somewhat julaceous, 2–4 mm long, more or less curved, with numerous rhizoids at base; in stem cross section central strand somewhat developed; pseudoparaphyllia few, lanceolate. Stem leaves 0.6–1.1 mm × 0.4–0.6 mm, falcate-secund, rarely straight, concave, ovate-lanceolate, not decurrent, rather abruptly to gradually acuminate; margins serrulate above, entire and recurved below; costae double, weak, sometimes single; median and upper leaf cells linear, 30–50 µm × 4–5 µm, slightly prorate; basal cells wider yellowish; alar cells quadrate or subquadrate, numerous, with 8–15 cells extending along the margin; branch leaves narrower, 0.6–1.0 mm × 0.22–0.35 mm, distinctly serrulate near the apex. Autoicous. Inner perichaetial leaves erect, oblong-lanceolate, slenderly acuminate, serrulate above, plicate; costae double, indistinct or single. Setae 7–15 mm long, yellowish brown or orange, twisted when dry; capsules inclined or horizontal, rarely erect, ellipsoidal to nearly cylindrical, 1.0–2.3 mm long, curved, constricted when dry; opercula conic, obliquely rostrate; annuli developed, in 1–2 rows; peristome normal, with 2–3 cilia. Spores 14–18 µm in diameter, minutely papillose.
