Trichosteleumsepikense Bartr., Brittonia 13: 378. 1961.
 
Plants small, bright green or brown, in low caespitose mats. Stems prostrate, irregularly branched; branches erect, 4–10 mm long, 1.0–1.25 mm wide with leaves. Stem leaves and branch leaves appressed to erect-spreading, oblong-lanceolate, 1–2 mm × ca. 0.5 mm, falcate, strongly concave, long acuminate to long cuspidate at apex; margins plane, sometimes slightly reflexed; leaf cells rhomboidal, sometimes fusiform, 20–55 µm × 4.0–6.5 mm, thick-walled, unipapillose; alar cells often with 2 inflated, thin-walled, colored cells. Inner perichaetial leaves smaller than the vegetative leaves, lanceolate, long acuminate; cells distinctly papillose. Setae ca. 12 mm long, smooth; capsules small, ovoid, ca. 1 mm long, pendent; opercula long rostrate.
