Plants usually robust, yellowish or brownish green, glossy, in large mats. Stems prostrate, to 10 cm long, often uni-pinnately branched; branches often julaceous, 1.0–1.5 cm long, often attenuate at tips, slightly curved. Stem leaves oblong-ovate, elliptical, 1.5–2.2 mm × 1.0–1.1 mm, concave, rounded or mucronate at apex; margins entire, often incurved near the apex; costae indistinct or absent; median leaf cells linear, 45–65 µm × 5–6 µm; alar cells colored, usually consisting of 2 layers of cells. Dioicous. Setae 13–20 mm long, reddish brown; capsules cylindrical; opercula shortly conic-rostrate; annuli well developed, consisting of 3 rows of inflated cells; exostome teeth lanceolate, obliquely or cross-striolate in basal 4–5 plates, papillose above; endostome segments linear, as long as teeth, smooth. Spores spherical, 14–17 µm in diameter, finely papillose.
