This species is characterized by its narrowly ovate-lanceolate leaves with length vs. width ratio 4–5 to 1.

Plants medium-sized, green or yellowish green, glossy, in dense mats. Stems prostrate, 3–5 cm long, irregularly branched; leafy branches complanate, 5–10 mm long, densely foliate. Stem and branch leaves similar, narrowly ovate-lanceolate, 2.0–2.5 mm × 0.4–0.5 mm, slightly concave; median leaf cells linear, 60–80 µm × 6–7 µm; apical cells shorter; alar cells quadrate, numerous. Sporophytes not seen.
