Plants medium-sized, yellowish green, glossy, in dense mats. Stems prostrate, pinnately branched; branches 5–10 mm long, densely foliate, usually julaceous. Stem leaves broadly ovate-lanceolate, ca. 1.5 mm × 0.7 mm, concave, broadly acute at apex; margins entire or nearly so; costae double, strong, to 1/3–1/2 the leaf length; branch leaves oblong-ovate, ca. 0.9 mm × 0.4–0.6 mm, bluntly acute at apex; margins entire or minutely serrulate at apex; costae short, double; median leaf cells linear, 55–77 µm × 6–8 µm; alar cells numerous, quadrate or shortly rectangular, 10–20 µm × 10–14 µm, extending upward to 15–20 cells high along margins. Autoicous. Setae ca. 11 mm long, straight, reddish; capsules erect or slightly inclined, ovoid to elongate-ovoid, 1.0–2.2 mm long; opercula shortly conic-rostrate; annuli well developed, consisting of several rows of inflated cells; exostome teeth narrowly lanceolate, papillose or horizontally, obliquely, or vertically papillosely striolate; endostome segments linear, slightly shorter than the teeth, smooth. Spores 12–17 µm in diameter, finely papillose.
