Plants tufted, yellowish green when dry, simple or branched, with complanate, flexuous leaves. Stems up to 3 cm long, lacking central strand in cross section. Leaves dimorphic, lateral leaves larger, obovate, 2–3 mm ×1.0–1.8 mm, median leaves broadly ovate; leaf apices acute to mucronate; laminal cells smooth, shortly oval to rhomboidal, 34–56 µm × 27–34 µm (about 1.0–1.5:1), thin-walled, becoming longer at the lower half of the leaf; leaf margins plane, weakly toothed, with 1–2 rows of differentiated rectangular to elongate cells, thin-walled. Dioicous or autoicous. Perichaetial leaves much smaller in size, ovate, about l.0 mm long, cuspidate. Sporophytes not seen.
